Weekly Commentaries for 2004 |
sunday, december 26 Earlier in the week I got gigantically confused by this storyline between Jackie/Deacon/Nick and Paige. Supposedly Paige is trying to seduce Deacon... but she is ALSO in it with Deacon and Jackie to be set up with Nick? Huh? I don't know if it's just me, maybe I misunderstood what is going on, but it made no sense. Paige seemed pretty obvious with her flirting with Deacon at Jackie M., and Deacon seemed pretty eager to spend time with her, he didn't seem at all like he wanted to set her up with Nick at any time, and we are supposed to believe that the joke was on Nick? Well... whatever. What a waste of what could have been a good storyline and a good actress! It would have been nice to see Paige stick around. Oh well... what saved the scene for me, at least in part, is seeing poor Nick toast to his future 'step-dad'. LOL.
Then we see Bridget breaking down and acting weird to her mother and Ridge, confessing to Ridge that she broke off her engagement to Oscar. In my humble opinion, Bridget is quite obviously still carrying a torch for her... hmmm... father/brother/uncle/stepfather Ridge. Oh yes.. I forget, the two aren't actually related, but is it any wonder this poor girl is confused? I am in the hope that in the upcoming shows they explore more about her feelings, having her run into Deacon, and having interesting and revealing conversations with Nick & Eric. We'll see. I would still like for her to keep her distance from her mother, that Brooke has been such an awful mother to this girl it's pretty pathetic. Enough of the 'Stephanie is a bad mother' routine, how about exploring how bad of a mother Brooke has really been? Starting from Wednesday's show we see the beginning of what will culminate in the most wonderful Christmas show... ever! It starts when both Ridge and Thorne decide to let the other brother have Christmas with mom and dad Forrester, but by doing so they leave the pair alone, reminiscing on how much they miss them, looking at cute pictures of Thorne and Ridge as youngsters on their Christmas tree. Here's my question... where are the pictures of their OTHER children? Why aren't cute pictures of young Kristin, Felicia, Rick and Bridget on the tree as well? Why aren't they upset that they will not be spending Xmas with them too? Alas... they aren't mentioned. Sigh. I wonder why the writers keep doing this. I would like nothing more than the girls to be brought back to LA and have storylines indefinitely. While the Ramirez family is spreading joy to underprivileged families at the firehouse’s toy drive, I must say the funniest scene by far for the week, belongs to a miraculously recovered Massimo and Nick, who sit there, sarcastically saying how wonderful it is to have peace and quiet during Christmas day, how great it is to not have to listen to the same old songs, but who seemed only too happy to see Ridge and Brooke pop up inviting them over. To see Massimo hold her little grandson for the first time (this is the first time? Geez!) was really heartwarming, but I can't help but wonder about this miraculous recovery of his. He went from night and day in what seems like a week. In what was supposed to be one day's events, he went from not being able to speak to Ridge about 'who' he was going to 'get' at the hospital, to have quite clear conversations to his sons and Jackie at the end of the day. Am I the only one that finds this a bit unrealistic? Hmmm... It was Amber that saved the day, however. She calls Ridge, telling him that ma and pa are alone, which prompts him to go see Thorne and get him to get along for one day and spend the day with their parents. Everyone arrived at the Forrester's Mansion, from the grandchildren and everyone in the family to even Sally and Clarke. It was a full house for sure. The only people missing were Jackie and Deacon, who were surely off doing something naughty on their own...
sly @ 11:17 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, december 18 Ahhh... shucks!! I had a feeling nobody was going to be shot, and unfortunately that feeling came true. Prodigal son Dominick had put blanks in the gun so nobody got hurt. I was disappointed, but happy that poor Dr. Mark didn't have yet another reason to show up on our screen. One must feel bad for that guy!! Relegated to the ER or making home calls. I wonder if he'll hook up with Bridget now that she's back in town? Hmmm..., well, more on Bridget later. The Marone Mansion was mayhem as the shots went off, but everyone was okay. Jackie wanted to stay and talk to Massimo but Ridge threw Deacon and Jackie out and slammed the door in her face. Jackie later went back in and during their conversation Massimo realized that Jackie had feelings for Deacon and he himself asked the 'boys' to throw her out. I really have a hard time feeling sorry for Jackie to be quite honest. She seems to me like she's become an older version of Brooke... someone is nice to her and she gives in without much thought of consequences. Where is the feisty, self-respected Jackie we saw at the beginning of the show? She's gone. Either that or she's under Deacon's spell, which, as I can tell, is quite a spell to be under. There sure seem to be a lot of people that think that Deacon is using Jackie, but I really have no clue. There seem to be a lot of 'using' going around from both parties if you ask me. Now that Bridget is back in town I wonder if she'll pay Deacon a visit? Hmmm..., well, more on Bridget later. When Nick brings Jackie the divorce papers, Jackie gives Nick her wedding ring and seems to really think her marriage is over for good this time. She tells Nick that Massimo deserves better. Later on she is humbled to find out that Massimo is letting her keep Jackie M., no strings attached. The first thing she does after this is naming Deacon the V.P. of the company. But... wasn't he already some sort of big shot in the company? Does this mean that Nick is also no longer involved? I am confused. Speaking of Nick... he seems to have something up his sleeve. He wants an old acquaintance of him, a gorgeous red-head named Paige, to 'lure' Deacon away from his mother. She really tried her hardest and Deacon is intrigued, so... hmmm... can't wait to see what happens. This seems like the same sort of thing that Stephanie does all the time, like when Stephanie had Rick professing his undying love to Amber to see how she'd react, so I wonder if this will work out, or come back to bite him in the you-know-what? We'll see I guess. Now that Bridget is back in town I wonder if she'll pay our favorite sailor a visit? Hmmm..., well, more on Bridget later. At Chez Ridge, Brooke finds Ridge still in bed at noon. Supposedly he's depressed and he feels he doesn’t belong with the Forresters or the Marones. What was strange to me is how Brooke didn't know he was still sleeping? Is the house so big that they usually walk around and not run into each other? Did she think he left for work without saying goodbye? Didn't she see him sleeping there when she woke up? It just makes no sense. Meanwhile Eric, due to Ridge's absence, makes Caitlin part of his design team. She is supposed to work with Thomas and she is sad that she had let such a good catch go. Well, I say, I better hope the writers don't put these two together again. I thought they made a cute couple in the beginning, but she treated him like yesterday's trash when she met Rick and does not deserve him. I really want Amber with him at this point unless something else happens that makes me change my mind but I doubt that will happen anytime soon, I just don't see it. Amber has changed, she is a grown up now and really loves Thomas. I want those two to be happy. While all this is happening, Sally is up to her old tricks when she is trying to exploit the fact that she can use Thorne's name on the Spectra logo and she makes it big and obvious, even using the Forrester's logo font. She is going too far and surely Thorne will suffer the consequences, but can we really expect anything less from Sally? That spitfire always has something new up her sleeve.
Finally, on Friday's show, we see the debut of Ashley Jones (formerly on Y&R) in the role of Bridget Forrester. She is home from Copenhagen solo, since fiancée Oscar stayed in Denmark and just couldn't get away. My question is, when exactly did Oscar join Bridget there? The last time we saw him he was talking Amber out of dating Thomas at the bikini cafe' and now all of a sudden we're supposed to believe he had joined Bridget in Europe while she's going to school? What exactly is he doing there that keeps him behind I wonder? But... I digress. I've really missed this character and I was pleased to see her back. I like this new Bridget and I hope the fans welcome her with open arms. I think she did a wonderful job in showing the pain she must be under and I'm glad she's back to make Brooke feel like poop for having this "perfect life", while she can't have a normal relationship because she is incapable of trusting anyone after her mother's betrayal. We all like to crucify Deacon, but I think the damage Brooke did to that child is far worse than anything Deacon could have ever done. I hope she sees the results of her actions. Bridget should never forgive her mother for what she did. Ever. Meanwhile Brooke has the gulls of telling Bridget that she only works part time so she can be home with the children. If that is true, where the heck are they? I swear, this makes no sense. We never see them, and there should be a total of 5 children in this household. How is it realistic that they all be gone all the time? Then we hear that the poor twins, whom are always MIA, are being shipped off to Boarding School.. and supposedly they are HAPPY about it? Give me a break.
sly @ 11:2 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, december 11 Bite my tongue!! I can say, for once, that Brooke actually did the right thing?! Well, she did, and I am certainly able to recognize it. The only problem I had with her is that she wasn't woman enough to tell Ridge how she was going to vote before the meeting. To be honest, I would like nothing better to like Brooke, and it may actually happen, as long as we are not forced to see her romps in the sack with every male character on the show, and she and Stephanie could actually get along! If Brooke can successfully STAY MARRIED to Ridge for the rest of the run of the show I actually might stop hating her. Hence... I was pleased that she and Ridge could come to an understanding about Brooke's vote against throwing Eric out as CEO and my hope is that they show less and less of them making out. PLEASE! It's so old... that is all we ever see. To be honest, I don't see how Ridge could have been mad at Brooke to begin with, didn’t he vote against her to put Eric back in office? Twice? Hmmm... He did what he believed was right at the time, why shouldn’t Brooke do the same? What was... dare I say it... pathetic, was how Nick, now alone because Felicia left, is fantasizing about Brooke... again. There was a possibility of Brooke's marriage to Ridge being on the rocks, so I think the writers decided to indulge a particularly fierce group of fans that want Nick and Brooke together, so, they threw them a bone, so to speak. Well, that bone is all these fans are going to get because it seems like the marriage of Brooke and Ridge is stronger than ever. Amen. I am not saying I enjoy or even care that Brooke and Ridge are together, I am just sick to my stomach that for the past 17 years Brooke and Ridge's love life has been center stage. Enough is enough. What was strange was how Brooke was surprised when Nick revealed that Felicia and he had called it quits. Didn't Felicia live with Ridge & Brooke? Wouldn't Brooke have known that Felicia had left for Europe? Yet another storyline faux-pas!
As per Ridge... I think it's just ridiculous that he thinks that acting the way he's been acting means that he has Forrester Creations’ best interests at heart. Oh really Ridge? If you're so great and better than Eric, why didn't FC fall on its face while you were gone? Why couldn't he make Logan Designs a success? Ridge conveniently forgets that, and that shows us, once again, what an arrogant piece of work he is. Sure, there are decisions that have to be made in the business world, but Ridge is running on an ego trip and jealousy. He can't stand being the #2 son for once. Finally though we see Ridge actually acting like he cares about his 'bio' dad Massimo. He runs over there when he feels he's needed. I think the key in redeeming this character (if there is such a thing) is some humility. To show that he can actually act like a human being. The sad part about all of this is that I feel that they fundamentally changed Ridge's character in order to either have a storyline or advance a plot, and that is just wrong. I realize that this is a soap opera, but even fictional characters need to remain true to their character to convince an audience. When we first met Ridge, he was an arrogant playboy... he was a jerk, but just likable enough so nobody could actually hate him. When he married Taylor, she had a profound effect on him, his arrogance was gone and he became very much a likable person. After Taylor's death, without her influence, it's only logical that he would backslide, but TPTB turned him into a bonified villain, the guy you love to hate, with absolutely no redeeming qualities, who would not think twice before back stabbing his brothers nor his parents. Ugh.
Over at the hospital, Massimo is now vocal and mobile, so he is finally able to leave, without anyone seeing him, to go rescue 'poor Jackie' (the poor guy has no idea what's going on!) and he runs over to his mansion to save his wife from evil Deacon. I, for one, truly enjoyed the look on Deacon's face when he realized that Massimo saw and heard everything he did and said to him and/or Jackie when he was in the room! It was priceless. Massimo pointed the gun at Deacon and was about to shoot when Nick enters the room with Ridge and tries to take the gun away from him... shots go off and Jackie screams. Who's been shot? Deacon? Massimo? Nick? Gosh, I am going to be real disappointed if nobody was...
sly @ 11:33 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, december 4 As suspected, Stephanie's pleas to her sons to put family first went unanswered, and while Ridge agreed that family comes before business, he still did not budge from his position of not allowing Thorne's line to be sold if the name 'Forrester' appeared on the Spectra label. This decision of his is so self-serving is downright evil. Thorne has every right to use his own last name in business. Thorne has earned it. Ridge left the company and Thorne didn't try to destroy him, did he? The idea of trademark infringement never crossed Ridge's mind until Thorne got notice and acclaim. It's not an issue. Thorne is using his name, it's a surname and the trademark is Forrester Creations NOT Forrester the name. Spectra is far too prominent on that logo to really allow Ridge to prevail. After Eric decided, as the CEO, to allow Spectra to be sold at Jackie M., a furious Ridge leaves and then forms a plan to instate himself as the new CEO of Forrester Creations. At this point it seems like Ridge has a heart of stone. What's even worse is that he is just sitting there pretending that Brooke is his little puppet and will do as he says no matter what. Over and over again this week Stephanie talked to Brooke about doing the right thing... but, will it sink in? While I agree that Brooke is between a rock and a hard place, at the same time, I can't help but wonder what she will do. On one hand, she could side with her husband, even though she does not agree at all with what he's doing. What would that tell us about Brooke? That she is weak? Easily manipulated? A doting wife that does what her husband says? But is that the same Brooke we got to know long ago? The same feisty Brooke that took FC away from Eric? If she sides with Ridge, knowing she does not agree with him, I will have even less respect for her as I already have. On the other hand, she could stand up to her husband's manipulative ways. She may have to pay dearly at home, at least for a time, but I seriously doubt that this action would end her marriage. If she votes to keep Eric on as CEO she might gain respect from Stephanie, as Stephanie told her that she would be in debt to her, and I, myself, bite my tongue, might have a renewed interest and respect for this character whose biggest accomplishment on the show is a chain of bed posts just to ultimately get to Ridge. Will she do it? I hope so. I can't imagine Ridge dethroning his father and still have a relationship with him. What I wonder though is why on earth he thinks that he's the "only one" responsible for any of Forrester's success? HUH? Ridge was gone from FC since early 2002, so for at least 2 years-possibly more if you take into consideration how they aged the kids- (especially Thomas-he was a child when Taylor died 2 years ago and now he's 18? Hmmm...) he's only been back to FC since late spring if I remember correctly. How on earth was he responsible for FC's success while he was somewhere else? And how come Ridge couldn't "make the hard decisions" that would have made Spectra or Logan Designs as much of a success as Forrester? Is that why he's trying to sabotage his 'little brother'? Because he did what he could not do? What is ironic, is that Ridge is the person that has less to lose "IF" FC does fall on its face, since Ridge will still be filthy rich anyway because he stands to inherit a fortune from Massimo... can we say.. boo-hoo? Of course, after Eric found out that Ridge was trying to oust him, he was furious. Ridge made it seem like he was doing him a favor, but he was really stabbing him in the back. Will Eric see Ridge in a different light from now on? I don't see how he can't.
Meanwhile, at the hospital, Massimo is getting better. I think Joseph Mascolo is doing a tremendous job showing how a recovering patient would act. It was very moving when he saw both his sons there and put the hands together with the rings. I also think that Nick, despite it all, is doing a very good thing in keeping Jackie away from him. If Jackie really wanted to see Massimo, she would have found him by now. I feel that she has no shame at this point. Her husband is sick and yet she keeps 'getting it on' with Deacon? Common... where is your good taste? Both characters are in store for an enraged Massimo for sure... please Massimo, recover and soon! I am ready for some fireworks!!
Over on the other, more poor side of town, Sam tells Hector that she wants to buy the family a house in Beverly Hills. Of course Hector is completely against the idea, he does not want to uproot the kids, and that is the neighborhood he grew up and wants to die in. While I understand Sam's concern about not feeling at home, I say, remodel that house!! Why not? Her family is there, the family she always wanted, she could build up, add and revamp the house they already have completely! Hector even said to go right ahead, and I don't see why that would be so difficult for her, since it is, or, was, her job!
Sadly, Friday was Colleen Dion's last day, and Felicia went over to see Nick and say her goodbyes. I am really sad to see this character leave, I think it would be nice if all the Forrester's children were involved in the storyline, and it's sad that the girls are always MIA. Sigh.
sly @ 10:09 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- sunday, november 28 I hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving!!
It was a short week, only three shows, yet so much happened, I can certainly fill this column with my thoughts and rants.
What stands out like a sore thumb this week, is the continuing feud between Ridge and Thorne... or, rather, the arrogance of Ridge toward his brother. I know many fans state that they are sick and tired of Thorne whining, but I can certainly see his level of desperation with his half-brother and I do not feel he's out of line at all in his feelings of outrage.
After Brooke's pleas, Ridge decides to throw Thorne a bone and let his collection be sold by the Jackie M stores, but ONLY if the name of Thorne Forrester is removed from the logo. There are other fans, usually Ridge fans, who state that Ridge is doing this purely as a businessman, but I cannot see that at all. If he was, he wouldn't be leaning on a contractual clause that he really can't uphold. Ridge isn't using that clause, he's ABUSING it. The clause he's using against Thorne is a "high end" exclusivity clause. That clause doesn't say Jackie-M will only sell Forrester. What it says is that Jackie-M, in return for the right to sell Forrester dresses, agrees not to sell any LOW END merchandise that would reflect badly upon Forrester. But the new Spectra is not low end. The critics said so. Eric said so. Even RIDGE said so when he congratulated Thorne after the showing. So the only reason Spectra is being considered low end is because Ridge wants to say it is now, despite saying the opposite before. He wants to hold Nick over a barrel: he knows Nick could fight him in court, but Jackie-M wouldn't have Forrester designs while Nick fought, and that would put a dent in Nick's sales. And even if Nick won in the end, Ridge could drag the fight out so long that Spectra would be out of business by then. Ridge is playing games with both his half-brothers, putting Nick in a position where he can't help Thorne, much as he wants to. Ridge is playing petty games with both his brothers, just so he can continue to be the #1 son, the man in the spotlight. His ego can't stand to see Thorne succeed; he was so sure Thorne would have failed by now, but since he hasn't, Ridge has to play hardball. But ironically, Ridge is working against himself: he wants to be #1 in Eric's eyes again, but all his actions are doing is pushing Eric further away from him and ever closer to Thorne.
As per the 'name brand confusion', that is just an excuse, and Brooke could overthrow his decision at any time being the majority stock holder. But... will she? Of course not. As I stated last week, Brooke is weak when it comes to Ridge, always has, always will. Pity. Thorne, of course, hit the nail right on the head when he stated that it's ironic that he's being told by a Marone, that a 'real' Forrester cannot use his own name. The gulls of Ridge know no boundaries. And to think that his bio-dad Massimo is recovered somewhere, going through an experimental procedure, but he's too busy to even care to call or ask about how he's doing. So much for his speech about taking his ring back. Ugh. Is it any wonder that Susan Flannery wins Emmy after Emmy? After Wednesday's performance, I think she's in the running for another one for sure. She had me in tears and everyone in the room in tears too, even Brooke. Bravo!! It takes courage and self-respect to take responsibility for your own actions and push forward for an amicable solution. I hope it will happen for the sake of the family, but somehow I don't think Ridge's is done with his antics quite yet.
The amusement for the week came from Sally once again. She's always good for a laugh! She dressed up as Massimo and proceeded in infiltrating the Rodeo drive Jackie M store and have a "Moonlight Madness" sale where the Spectra Couture line sold tons of clothes! While Nick was not too happy about their infiltration, he was pleased with the numbers; however, he told them he still could not sell their line without the approval from FC.
I really feel for Nick, stuck between a rock and a hard place... his brother is threatening him, his mother betrayed his father, and his father is in the hospital... the poor guy needs a break! Nick is a good son. He is standing by Massimo in his time of need. Where is Ridge? He's too busy trying to destroy his "other" family because he is no longer the favorite. Can we say... BLAH?
sly @ 10:58 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- sunday, november 21 This entire week basically revolved around the fact that Ridge is adamant about his decision, and the entire Forrester's gang telling Brooke to knock some sense into Ridge. As much as Brooke loves Ridge, she must see him for what he is now, right? Arrogant, vindictive, selfish? Hmmm... One can only wonder. However, I find it hard to believe that Ridge would listen to her in the end and change his mind for her, which speaks volumes about their relationship. However, she does not NEED to change his mind at all. She is the majority stock holder and can overthrow his decision at any time, will she bow to Ridge's wishes and support him and his tyrant ways, or think with her own head? Will she risk her marriage to Ridge by standing on her own two feet and for what is right? I doubt it.
I also found it hard to believe that Ridge had to make this trip for damage control at all. Where was the damage control when HE was at Spectra? I didn't see any of that. Where was the damage control when he and Brooke formed Logan's Designs? He didn't care about FC's image then, did he? He did the same thing back then as Thorne is doing today, and it's very hypocritical for him to come down on him now. Ridge has really shown his true colors since he has been remarried to Brooke. Taylor was too good for him, she was strong and kept him in line... she would never allow him to fly off the handle like he's doing now. Brooke is too weak of a wife to do that!
The break-up of Rick and Caitlin made no sense to me. It was like the writers brought it out of the blue just to write Rick out of the canvas. There was no 'hint' that things were going bad or anything of sort, Rick swore up and down he was totally in love with Caitlin, she was this new light of his life, he couldn't go through the day without thinking and wanting her, and now all of a sudden he thinks their age difference is a big deal now... huh?? While I applaud Rick for breaking up with Caitlin gently, at the same time, the reasoning made no sense coming out of the blue. Again, If we would have seen a 'hint' that Rick was being pushed against a wall, maybe seeing Caitlin calling him excessively or acting too much like a teenager or something of sort, it would have been more credible, but this way, it's just weird. It's a good thing that Caitlin held on to her virginity... What I don't get is why Thomas... if he's so in love with Amber, must he spend all this time trying to make Caitlin feel better about the break-up? It makes me wonder if Thomas does not still hold feelings for Caitlin and if he won't dump Amber soon for her. We'll see I guess. Good for Amber for telling Caitlin that they should be friends because of all they have in common... as the old saying goes, keep your friends close and your enemies closer. I thought it was funny that Caitlin was suspicious in the beginning but later thanked Amber... ahhh... teenagers... they are so easily fooled, LOL. Meanwhile, at the Marone Mansion, Jackie finds out that her line of boutiques is not a subsidiary of Marone Industries, but it was purchased in Jackie’s name, therefore no one can try to push her out as she owns the entire chain. Deacon tries to cheer Jackie up and brings her to the boutique for the first time. Although timid at first, Jackie comes alive when she is back in the boutique atmosphere. I hope Massimo also comes alive SOON so he can put Deacon in its place since Jackie is too foolish and weak to. While I agree that Jackie and Deacon have convincing chemistry, that doesn't mean they should be together. I really liked Deacon when he was with Macy... Deacon is so hot and sexy and he deserves some happiness in his life. I hope the writers get him involved with a sexy single woman soon!
sly @ 11:06 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, november 13 For the first few episodes this week, we had to hear Amber go on and on about family unity to Stephanie, yadda yadda. It was so boring I almost fell asleep. Why would Amber pretend and expect for Stephanie to 'forget' everything she's done in the past and give her the 'go ahead' to date her grandson? Amber is full of ulterior, selfish motives. She may love Thomas, and she may have changed, but she needs to 'show' that she has chanced, not expect people to just believe her. When you break the trust, it has to be re-gained, that's all there is to it. Brooke even accused Stephanie of never wanting to change even for the betterment of the family. Really Brooke? Where was your concern of the well being of the family when you slept with Eric, Thorne, Ridge AND Nick? Brooke is such a hypocrite it's really quite revolting. She obviously can't remember it was she and Ridge who went to Stephanie and asked for her help in breaking up Thomas and Amber...... and she obviously conveniently forgot that it was less than two months ago when she ran poor Amber out of town!! Give me a break.
Then we finally saw poor Nick dealing with the fact that he saw his mother kissing Deacon... Jackie tried to explain herself, but she seems to me like the writers are turning her into an 'older' version of Brooke to me, since she's making the same mistakes in my view... even with the same man. She's upset and distraught so she jumps into bed with the first person that treats her nicely... doesn't it sound like Brooke to you? It sure does to me... and Brooke, of all people, should not only understand it, but have absolutely ZERO to say about it. DRATS! I really like Jackie and now I am beginning to roll my eyes at her behavior. Blah.
Later in the week, when Nick sees improvement with Massimo, he secretly has him moved to a neurology clinic without telling Jackie. Of course Jackie is upset, but, well, boo-hoo. What can I say? I want the writers to redeem this character soon; she's just so weak now! Common Jackie, quit your whining and show what a strong person you are! I am eagerly awaiting. Nick really disappointed me this week though regarding Ridge. I thought FOR SURE that he was not going to 'give in' to Ridge's threats, instead, HE CAVED! Common Nick, show some back bone. Why didn't he go to Eric & Stephanie and have a chat with them about all of this? It makes no sense. Then he tells Sally that he wouldn't put it past Ridge to go over his father's head and claim his 'rights' as major stockholder (with Brooke) and that is why he decided not to carry the Spectra line. Ridge then stated that he's doing this to preserve and protect the 'Forrester' name... Really Ridge? Where you trying to protect FC when YOU were over at Spectra and took all the buyer's shelf space and Amber had to sell her line on TV? Funny how history is forgotten so easy on this show. Also... Logan Designs was in direct competition with FC, yet Eric and Thorne never once tried to sabotage them. Ridge won't extend the same courtesy that was given to him of course, and is coming out looking like the tyrant that he is. This just shows how selfish, ungrateful and arrogant he is. This character is getting more and more disgusting by the minute... ugh!! What's annoying and disturbing is how he does all of this without telling Brooke about it; then again, he hadn't told Brooke about Thomas & Amber's pregnancy scare either... what is going on with these two? Do they do ANYTHING but have sex? Who I felt bad for this week was Felicia. Nick was too... what, embarrassed maybe, to talk to her about not carrying the Spectra line, and Ridge refused to talk to her too. She has to hear it from others. Poor girl. She has to sit there and listen to Brooke defend Ridge's actions, like there is anything to defend? Is this the beginning of the end of the 'Flick' relationship? Hmmm...
sly @ 11:49 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, november 6 Good old Ridge never ceases to amaze. Just before leaving for his trip to supposedly do 'damage control' (didn't they WIN the challenge? Hmmm) Ridge stops by Nick’s office to give him an ultimatum; Forrester Creations will pull their designs from the Jackie M boutiques if Jackie M picks up the Spectra Couture line. Ridge sure is a piece of work, isn't he? What would Eric & Stephanie think if they find out about this threat? Thankfully Nick does not look like is going to oblige nor put up with any of Ridge's drama. I think it is quite horrible for Ridge to do this to Nick (putting FC before his family!) since their father, the 'old man' Massimo is lying like a Vegetable in his house. That Ridge has very poor taste and manners is a not a surprise, but I think he has reached an all time low on this one. Nick is taking care of everything and everyone, from the Business to make sure Massimo is taken care of and also make sure his mother is ok. What is Ridge doing beside threatening? One can't help but wonder... I must say, I really hate what they have done to this character. This Ridge I'm seeing is not the same Ridge that both Caroline and Taylor fell in love with. I hope the writers redeem this character, and soon... or is it too late?
At the Forrester's mansion, while Amber is out by the Forrester pool working (working by the pool! Nice!), Stephanie, Brooke and Rick discuss the plan to break up Amber and Thomas. Brooke was not thrilled with the plan, but she did ask Stephanie to come up with something, so she now has to live with it since she has no plan of her own. Well... in actuality, she didn't have to live with it at all. She could have just left. She stated to Stephanie that she wanted to get home to her little kids, but she didn't. I don't know about anyone else, but I have two small children (well, one is 8 but since he's disabled, it's like having a small child), and I can barely look presentable most of the time, yet Brooke always looks perfect? No spit up on her clothes, no hair all over the place, her make-up and clothes always so perfect (even when she wasn't working)... is that what the writers want us to think about what it's like to have little children? That they are not going to change your life? Where are the toys that are supposed to be all over the house? Does the nanny ALWAYS have them? How unreal is this? At least when we saw little D he had toys everywhere. Now that she is the absentee mother of her two young children, they never even get mentioned. Yeah... she states how she needed to get home to them to Stephanie, yet even though she does not agree with Stephanie's plan, she sticks around? Poor kids. Brooke's priorities are so messed up. But... I digress. Rick goes along with it and thinks it's a good idea, saying that he wants to spare Thomas what he went through... which makes me wonder... why is it that he has so many problems with Amber being involved with another guy from a particular family, when his beloved mother, Brooke, has been with most of the men in TWO families? Rick, of all people, should be the *last* person “lecturing” anyone about the inappropriateness (i.e. the “wrong path”) of pursuing a relationship with a teenager since he's involved with a minor himself. Give me a break... But... I am digressing again... Rick is supposed to make Amber believe that he wants her back, and Stephanie thinks that is a good test for her to find out how much she really loves Thomas as she says. Stephanie does not think that Amber does love Thomas, of course, and everyone is surprised when she turns Rick down. Thomas is happy to hear that Amber loves him and Amber finds out that this was a scheme and tells Stephanie that she is the biggest threat to the family. Really Amber? I beg to differ... if you want a scandalous family who does whatever they want whenever they want, and do not care what other people think of them, and sleep with anyone they want..... Then yes, Stephanie is a threat. Stephanie isn't perfect, she knows that, she has flaws just like everyone in that family, but she at least wants some discretion. I don't know why Amber seems to demand from Stephanie to be perfectly nice and supportive of everyone who does wrong, while she does not expect that from Brooke or Ridge or Rick or anyone else... Hmmm... Or is it because she holds Stephanie to such a high standard that she feels that way? In either case, Stephanie has been more than nice to her all these years, and she does not have to like, nor approve of her relationship with Thomas.
Over at the Marone mansion, Massimo does look better. The breathing tube is gone and he's been moved... where... was that his study? He now is in a bed too... wow. Things are looking up. Nick tried to get his mother out of the house without success, and although Jackie is apprehensive about leaving Massimo and going to dinner with Deacon, they leave the house and arrive at Café Russe. Nick and Felicia, having dinner in the same joint, spot Jackie and Deacon arriving, holding hands and being cozy. Felicia is curious, even concerned, while Nick tries his best to put it out of his mind, but can't help but follow them once they leave and catches them kissing in the house. Nick is outraged and demands answers. He ultimately comes to the realization that Deacon is the man Jackie was having an affair with. Jackie also reveals that the day Massimo had his stroke was the day Massimo found out her relationship with Deacon. What will Nick do to Deacon now? I can't wait to see!
sly @ 11:52 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- sunday, october 31 HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! This week's shows revolved basically around the Fashion Show and Thorne issuing the challenge to Ridge. I was very proud of Thorne, because that took a lot of guts. Ridge, as per usual, only had insults to throw at him ("Thorne probably could have made a good go of it...selling his mediocre designs to cut-rate stores" or "him and his merry band of misfits, but that wouldn't satisfy this towering inferiority complex") but Thorne didn't seemed fazed at all at Ridge's superiority complex and harsh words. Good for him!
Preparing for the event, Thorne combined the best elements of Clarke, Felicia, and Amber's designs to make one show stopper, showing he had some creative talent after all. I wonder if this is a taste of things to come? All in all the Spectra gang's dresses were definitely more edgy, while Forrester Creations' were a lot classier. FC won the challenge, but only by 'this much'. The press was impressed.
Funny... while Thorne was president of FC all he wanted was Ridge and Eric to go back to FCs roots and make classy designs, instead, they went for the Ingénue line. Why did they fight him on it, to then do what he wanted to once he left? Hmmm...
Another thing that does not make sense to me is how exactly Brooke is involved in FC nowadays? Where is this Brooke's Bedroom line they are talking about? I thought that was supposed to be their saving grace? Or was that just a scheme to give Brooke more screen time and back into FC? Hmmm... The writers will need to explain this one.
I must admit, I got a little chocked up when Eric talked to Thorne at the end of the Fashion Show. I liked how Stephanie was on the sideline holding both Darla's and Felicia's hands (that was very sweet) and funny how almighty Ridge was listening in the background. While I am not happy that these children are acting like... well, children, it was nice to see Eric finally realizing that Thorne was not second rate and realizing that, yes, he's the only son he has with Stephanie. Ridge may get upset at this comment all he wants, but he has his cake and wants to eat it too. Ridge has TWO fathers; he is the heir of TWO fortunes, if he was so egotistical that he wanted to denounce Massimo as his true father a few months ago... well, that's his problem. Thorne cannot 'run' to the other daddy dearest like Ridge can. Thorne has only one father, and it's time Eric realized that instead of bowing to Ridge's feet. I loved it, really!
While I am talking about Thorne, I must add that I really like the relationship he has with Darla. They really love each other and it shows. I sure do hope the writers leave them alone and not turn them into another 'Bridge' with their 'who's the daddy' and 'let's break up and reunite a million times' storyline. That is so old. As per Bridge, I better hope they stay together forever because they truly deserve each other. Enough is enough about their love lives!
The focus of the show this week was so much of the fashion show is hard to remember what else happened... let me see... Brooke and her new lips marched over to Stephanie's to tell her that her solution to get Amber to move in with her 'to keep an eye on her' was 'no solution'. However, she tells her this without offering an alternate plan. Typical Brooke, I say! Give me a break. If you're gong to criticize someone for something they did, you better have something to offer in return, an idea, anything! Her only offer is to help Stephanie come up with a better solution. Knowing that Brooke had very little luck in keeping Amber out of Rick's life, and the more she tried the more they stuck together, I really doubt she can truly be any help whatsoever. We'll see.
The other storyline that was actually kind of sad is when the lawyer tells Nick and Deacon that in order for Nick to handle financial issues, Massimo must be declared incompetent. This was, of course, sad but he stated they have no choice. I am really quite sick of seeing Deacon chase after Jacqueline and trying to ruin their life. Deacon is so selfish and heartless it's ridiculous. This is particularly sad to me because when he was married to Macy I actually started to like him, and he made such a cute dad, but now... no way. Please let Massimo get well soon so he can kick Deacon's butt and get his life back! I think on Deacon's agenda should be getting some visitations with his daughter. I know he mentioned he was able to see Hope because of Nick's positive influence, but we haven't seen this at all. I want to see Deacon interact more with his children, that's when he's best.
We did finally see Sam & Hector (albeit briefly) at the fashion show and I want MORE! I want a wedding, some drama, anything! Lorenzo Lamas is just too good to let him be on the sidelines. I think he and Sam deserve a storyline. Bring back Pricilla I say! That will stir up something for sure!!
sly @ 9:37 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- monday, october 25 I suppose the main story of the week was Amber's pregnancy scare. I don't blame Stephanie for being forceful with her, she always liked Amber and has treated her in a motherly way, she did what she had to, to get through to her. While Amber has my sympathy lately, I am glad she recognized that a pregnancy would be devastating for everyone concerned and that being careful was something she should have done to begin with. I do like this storyline a lot and this couple is growing on me more and more each day. Thomas did well to wait until he was 18 to have sex because kids are no longer waiting these days and they are doing it at much younger ages. At least his first experience was with someone he cares about. I can tell that it's not all about sex because Thomas sees the good in Amber and he helps Amber to see the good in herself. If that's not love, then what is? Ridge should thank his lucky stars that he involved his mother in this one, because if it wouldn't have been for Stephanie, surely Thomas would have run off to Vegas and married Amber already. Ridge is too full of himself and too over the top to be a responsible parent in my view. Brooke is just a stepmom, so there is nothing much she can do or say that would make a difference. If only Taylor was alive... In my view, Stephanie's idea to keep Amber close by is a good one, not only for her sake, but for Thomas' sake as well. If their relationship is as strong as it seems, it will survive and thrive. If not... it will go by the wayside. I thought it was funny that Stephanie mentioned Bridget! Whoa! Finally someone says something! She stated that Bridget had gone to Copenhagen for the rest of the year and that is why the guesthouse was free. So... what will happen to Amber at the end of the year? It's only a couple of months away... The 'What The Hell' moment this week goes to Brooke. How dare she waltzes over to Nick's office and bashes Spectra? On what authority? How on earth would she know that Spectra's new couture line is awful and could not compare without even seeing it? How could she be so sanctimonious and self-serving? This is particularly sad since she loved Thorne once, and even fought hard to marry him, hence she should at least have 'some' feelings for him still and would want the best for him. But... no. Brooke always had 'Ridge' blinders on, always and forever. Felicia should have given her a good tongue lash, but she's too classy to get involved in a feud with Brooke. I respect Felicia for that. What I didn't have respect for is Eric. When Felicia told him that Nick liked Spectra's new designs he went off the wall accusing her of using her relationship with the Sea Captain to give Spectra and advantage. Well... Felicia SHOULD have mentioned to Eric that she wouldn't have had to do that if Brooke would have kept her trap shut! AARRGHH! Eric's conversation to Thorne was very sad indeed. Here he is, high and mighty, telling Thorne that he knows squat about the fashion industry and to basically quit his quest for 'revenge'. Right Eric!! This has nothing to do with revenge anymore, but it's all about Thorne wanting to prove something to himself and to his family. Thankfully Thorne is not going to take it anymore and tells Eric that he will no longer sit on the sidelines and that he needs to make his mark. Applause Applause! I am so pleased that the writers have decided to give Thorne a backbone. He may not be going about everything perfectly, but he's going strong and it's about time. This has been a long time coming and I'm enjoying every minute of it. Go Thorne! As I said before... Deacon must have a death wish. Taking off Massimo's ring and slip it onto his own finger? What is he thinking? If he only knew Massimo could hear and see everything I doubt he would be so bold and smug about it. I cannot wait for someone-anyone- to bring him down a peg or two. I am not really enthused about this storyline to be quite honest. I want Deacon back into his beach house with little D, chasing after someone his age. Please? I must say, the show has been getting better and better since the 'death' of Brooke's continuous, troubled love life! It was about time!!
sly @ 2:08 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- sunday, october 17 I was gone for several days early in the week, and got so behind on stuff I decided not to watch the rest of the week and let TIVO recap me and watched all 5 shows in a row without commercial interruptions! It is truly a difference experience to watch all the shows in a row! At any rate... the storyline that interested me the most in the beginning of the week was Ridge's volatile behavior when he reached Amber's trailer in Furnace Creek. As usual, Ridge cannot see the forest for the trees and blames Amber for everything. He blasts her for taking advantage of Thomas and trying to find a way to get back into the Forrester family. Hmm... wasn't it Amber that left town and wasn't it Thomas who kept chasing after her? Sure, she's not turning him down, that much is true, but if it wasn't for Thomas' insistence, there would be no relationship. I was proud of Amber for holding her ground stating that she is not a gold-digger. Clearly she isn't. Maybe she was when she first showed up on the show in 1997, but as Brooke pointed out (wow... Brooke might be right for a change? What's the matter with me?) she has changed. Well... Brooke stated that it is 'possible' while I can see clearly that it is indeed a fact. At least in my own humble opinion. I also really liked the fact that Brooke can somehow sympathize to Amber as everyone is calling Amber the names they used to call her finally. I was wondering if that was ever going to happen. Truly, if there is anyone on the show that could put herself in Amber's shoes, it's indeed Brooke, and it's nice to see that she can, albeit partly, understand Amber, if only a little bit. How truly pathetic of Ridge though to state to Amber that the only reason she did not take any money from Rick in the divorce was because she was hoping Rick would take her back in the future. Really Ridge? Do you think any person with any intellect whatsoever would chose to be broke in exchange for a 'possible' reconciliation? It makes no sense. Amber didn't take any money exactly because she did not want to be seen as a gold-digger. I also thought that Amber was a class act to decline to press charges against Ridge, as we all know that Ridge would not do such favors to her if the situation was somehow reversed. How fun to see Thorne showing up at the last moment to try to talk some sense into Ridge. Of course it did not work because Ridge is not going to listen to any reason. I know that the scene between Ridge and Thomas was supposed to look like father and son had come to an understanding but it was more like seeing crocodile tears coming out of Ridge to me. Blah. Dr. Mark appeared once again this week! Looks like the ER doctor makes house calls? This poor character is completely under-used in my view. Surely there is an actual life to Dr. Mark than does not involve medicine? Why can't we pair him up with someone? The person who I truly feel for is Jackie. I thought it was rather nice when she confessed to a Priest that she had an affair and caused Massimo’s stroke. Not knowing that Massimo can see and hear, after hearing this, a single tear falls down Massimo cheek. I thought this was a truly moving moment. One thing I really don't understand though... what is Massimo doing in the living room? Why isn't he in his bedroom or a bedroom upstairs (If Jackie needs her own bed)? You would think that someone that can't move and is attached to all these tubes would be in a comfortable bed instead of some chair smack in the middle of the living room? That is just bizarre. One more thing I found amusing this week is that his 'growls' have been replaced with "internal" dialogue... "Help Me Stephanie!" and "No, Jackie, don't!" while he can't move. I don't know if anyone finds that amusing, but I sure do! Here's my question... Doesn't Oscar live there too? Why can't Oscar help out? I mean, he is the one that wanted to earn the family ring, right? So where is he during this bad time of Massimo's stroke? I hope the writers can explain yet another faux-pas in this storyline. At any rate, I really do think that the powers that be want Massimo to ultimately completely forgive Jackie for everything and are portraying her as an innocent victim of Deacon's misdeeds. It does seem that Deacon has some sort of an agenda here? To just get Jackie at any cost?? Can't he see that she wants nothing to do with him? I suppose Deacon is one bad boy who truly can't take NO for an answer. I was very pleased later in the week when Stephanie questioned Deacon, especially about little D. Finally someone is mentioning this child!!! Speaking of Stephanie, wow, what a good actress. SF is such a fantastic treasure for B&B... No wonder she keeps winning Emmys for her role. She is just marvelous. Seeing her talking to Massimo, telling tales of when they were children, it was really heartwarming to me. I didn't know that they had known each other since they were kids? Didn't Massimo grow up in Italy I thought? I remember him visiting his father's grave in Portofino! Okay... I am officially confused now!! LOL. Later in the week we see a proud and confident Thorne standing up to his brother once again when Ridge shows up at Spectra all upset that Thorne hired Felicia and Amber. As usual Ridge's ego must be the size of Texas because he dismisses everything everyone says. I was especially proud for Felicia for telling Ridge off, and Ridge honestly should take a hard look at himself in the mirror because he has so many double standards I have a hard time remembering them all! His comment to Eric that Thorne is 'tearing the family apart' was so off mark it's amazing nobody called him on it. After all, it was because of Ridge's attitude toward Thorne and Darla that caused all of this in the first place! Sadly, Ridge is still the same old name-calling bully. What is his problem? If he doesn't view these "underachievers" (as he called them) as a threat, he wouldn't be over there trying to discourage them from giving FC a little competition. Right? Thankfully, Thorne and Felicia aren't going to be pushed around any more. I want to know what's happened to Bridget and Oscar and Sam & Hector - hope they are brought into a storyline soon. But... please... let's keep Caitlin and Rick in the backburner! I like them to stay there! Speaking of which... wasn't Thomas supposed to take Caitlin to Homecoming? What happened to that I wonder?
sly @ 11:29 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, october 9 I am not really sure what Thorne was thinking this week when he offered to buy Forrester Creations from his parents. Did he really think his father... and most of all Brooke... would let him? Brooke, as usual, has disappointed me greatly. She could have helped mediate this feud with Ridge and Thorne, but she did nothing of sort. She was married to Eric, Thorne & Ridge; you would think she has an insight on matters. Brooke has not called Ridge on his obnoxious behavior, which is partly to blame for this situation. Instead she tells Darla to get an "attitude adjustment" when Darla warned her of the potential problems between the brothers. In Brooke's mind, everyone must accept that Ridge is the greatest, best thing to ever happen to the world. Thorne must go back to the basement and accept whatever crumbs are thrown his way. Everyone must bow to King Ridge in order for there to be family unity. While Thorne has had Stephanie in his corner for quite sometime now, her support is not enough to make a real difference as far as Forrester Creations is concerned. Too bad, really, it would have been a great slap in the face for King Ridge. Instead, who got a slap in the face was indeed my dear Stephanie when Brooke suggested coming back to FC and bring back her trashy lingerie line. The slap came from Eric himself. How does Eric show Stephanie just how much he appreciates and loves and respects her for what she's brought back into his life? He turns his back on their vision for their company, and supports everything they have never wanted for their company. Eric's just can't say no to Ridge, and he certainly can't say no to Brooke. I'm sure Stephanie regrets working so hard to hand that company back to him just so Brooke could once again get her stilettos back in the door. I think Stephanie knows she can't change the past, but she seems determined to right the future. I am enjoying this new side of Stephanie. She is one heck of a strong woman and I do not see her sticking around for the direction FC is going. Eric might be on this sinking ship all by himself. I look forward in seeing Stephanie on Thorne's 'Dream Team'! While it was nice that Eric had that little 'talk' to Ridge about respecting his mother during this time, at the same time it seemed to me like it was too little too late. Ridge is not going to start respecting anyone just because his father tells him so. It was Stephanie that had to sadly go to Thorne and tell him the news that Eric & Brooke were not going to sell him FC, and it was because she appealed to his goodness that he came to his senses and stopped 'stealing' the designs from FC... I was hoping this would happen... rather sooner than later, and even happier that he went to bat to hire Felicia and Amber. Amber needs a break!!! Speaking of Amber... so, she leaves town and is in Furnace Creek, yet Ridge is STILL coming after her? What is he going to do to her? Hit her? Leave her bruised up for the police to find her? That would be funny because she then could press charges against him and put a restraining order on Ridge!! Wouldn't that be funny? Hmmm... What is up with Ridge being so nasty to her and Darla anyway? I guess the idea of a woman not kissing his a** is a novel idea. BTW, where is Tawny, Amber's mama, these days? What about her famous singing sensation sister? Surely they could help her out emotionally and financially... As per Ridge and the press conference... how dare he mortify his parents and reveal that Thorne had indeed stole the designs? Does this man have any clue of how arrogant and self-absorbed he is? I, for one, am eagerly awaiting his downfall. The other story line this week revolved around Jackie bringing Massimo home and Nick hiring Deacon to help her take care of him. Bad boy Deacon is surely back!! Interestingly enough, I don't think he realizes that Massimo is truly "aware" even though is paralyzed, and I can only imagine of what Massimo would do to him if he could!! I think it's quite comical myself how Massimo 'growls' inside when he sees Jackie hugging Deacon or when Deacon talked down to him... LOL!! One thing I don't understand though. Where is Little D? I know that his grandparents had moved near Deacon to spend time with the child, but... what... are they raising him now? The writers should really explain this faux-pas on this storyline! I must admit, I am very happy that B&B is returning the show to the main subject line it should be concentrating on... the Fashion Business! Between FC, Spectra and now the Jackie M line of boutiques (whenever that takes off!) I feel like the show is gaining strength.
sly @ 12:31 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, october 2 One couldn't help but feel sorry for Jackie this week. I do believe that she is in love with Massimo, even if the fling with Deacon was fun and revealing. She really looked devastated when Dr Mark (are there any other Doctors in that hospital I wonder?? Poor Dr. Mark has no storyline other than hang around the emergency room) told her the grim health consequences that his stroke could bring. What I found moving were both scenes with Nicky and Ridge at Massimo's bed side, but I thought Ridge's concern was pretty plastic. Very unconvincing. Can't put my finger on it, really, it just didn't ring true that he was oh... so concerned over Massimo's health when in the months prior he put him in jail, denounced that he was a Marone, did not invite him to the wedding, nor let him see the grandchildren. Hmmm... Ridge's colors did show shiny and bright during his conversation with Thorne, however. Sure... Thorne's proposal to buy out Forrester's creation does not seem like a 'solution' to anything in my view but only an attempt at revenge... but nonetheless, Ridge showed once again that he can't be calm and collected and talk with respect toward anyone. Throwing insults must be a way of life for him nowadays... I can't imagine how Eric & Stephanie can put up with it to be honest. Going back to Thorne, I go back and forth on this one. On one hand I can see how he feels the way he does about buying out Forrester's Creations, showing he is the true leader that he is, but by doing so he shuts out every sibling of his from part-ownership of his parents' company, doesn't he? Ridge, even if not Eric's son, is still Stephanie's son and he can't be counted out of the equation. I don't think Brooke would agree to sell him the company anyway, and she owns 49% of the stock. I do want to applaud the writers for bringing us such a fiery storyline involving one of the most underused characters the show ever had. This is the moment for Thorne to shine! I still do not think that his parents will sell him the company, but the scene with him and Stephanie by the elevator was very moving. We'll see what happens. Would I would like to happen is for him to stay at Spectra and hire Amber to be honest. The girl needs to catch a break. Don't get me wrong, I've never been an Amber fan, but this storyline of hers is just too much. First she is accused of being a gold digger... even though if she's such a gold digger she sure is broke. Second, she is told to get out of town or go to jail. While she's packing her bags Princess Brooke, who has no room to talk whatsoever, appears at her footsteps to tell her to leave. Hello? She is packing her bags missy, can't you see that? Brooke is only there to have an excuse to yell at her again. I thought Amber held her ground pretty well with her, especially with her comparisons to Stephanie. I mean... common... Brooke should be the LAST person on planet earth to counsel anyone on morals. She has gone with the father in law, brother in law, son in law, and if she feels that she can make someone else feel badly about themselves she needs to take another look at herself before she goes pointing fingers. Amber may be many things, but she sure is a survivor and can roll with the punches. Of course Brooke getting the detective involved to tell her to get out of town once again (hello? She is packing her bags, are you people blind?) and ripping off the necklace was just way over the top. Sooo dramatic. Who can forget that evil look that Brooke gave Amber too? It gave me the chills. Ugh. I thought Thomas was just too funny showing up at Amber's Furnace Creek's little house with flowers with reasons on how she cannot be arrested in a different county etcetera! I like this kid! While I don't really approve of this relationship, I will be the first to say that they look pretty darn cute together! I know... I know... makes no sense! The 'What the hell are you doing" award goes to Miss Priss Caitlin this week. What is she doing showing up at Amber's door? Who in the world does she think she is? When will she learn to mind her own biswax? AAck!
sly @ 11:31 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- sunday, september 26 Well, well, well. This was an interesting week to say the least. Front and center was Amber getting 'caught' by Stephanie...hmmm. As much as I liked this illicit affair, I must say, what's wrong is wrong. Amber really needed to be jolted back into reality. She's just used her boss's office to have sex with a teenager for Pete's sake!! She should not have felt sorry for herself afterwards, she should have felt ashamed. I must agree with Stephanie's assessment that she did not care about the consequences per se but only about her ego being stroked. Let's face it, it's hard to not feel bad for Amber, after all, Thomas has been the only person to treat her with kindness lately, but she just went too far. She could have stopped it at any time but she didn't. The only thing that bothered me is 'how' Stephanie finds out about Amber working at Insomnia that made her visit the Cafe'... Why can't Caitlin mind her own business? Why does she feel the need to be such a snitch and feel the relationship of Amber and Thomas is so horrible when her own parents think her relationship with Rick is wrong too? A little bit of a double standard don’t you think? I have no respect for backstabbers, and this latest action of Caitlin makes me like her even less. Even after I said all of this, I still think it's wrong.. oh... so wrong for Brooke to come down on Amber. She has no room to talk whatsoever. Amber didn't ruin her son's life... if I remember correctly, Amber gave Rick one of her kidneys. If anything, he saved his life. Funny how Brooke wasn't responsible one bit for taunting Macy until she drove her nuts and caused Macy to drink and have an accident. The argument was, even hurt, even with all Brooke's provocations, Macy still had the ultimate choice... But of course, it is Amber's fault that Rick had the accident... although Rick was at the wheel and chose to get into that race. It was Brooke that allowed Amber to come into her house in the first place, with a hormonally challenged teen-aged son... what was she thinking!? Also... remember that Amber was about to marry a decent man who wanted to spend his life with her (CJ) and Rick pulled out all the stops (Deacon) because he couldn't live without her? And how can Brooke open her trap and say that the only reason why Amber is with Thomas is because he's a Forrester? If I remember correctly, Brooke herself couldn't keep her hands off the Forrester men! She married three of them! How come that is just fine for her to do, but horrible for Amber to do? I also find it pretty regrettable that everyone seems to conveniently forget that Amber lost basically three children. And while Rick lost them too, Rick had his family, Amber had nobody! What Rick and Brooke and everyone else need to do is accept that Rick is partially to blame for everything that happened to him instead of passing the buck to Amber. At least Stephanie gave her the choice to 'get out of town' and did not call the police, while Brooke immediately had the phone in hand. Come on Brooke... give the girl a break! The greatest scene this week belonged to Stephanie without a question. When she and Eric visited Thorne and 'gave him' the designs and offered their love and support was a true tearjerker. Kudos to the actors and to the writers for this truly wonderful scene. There have been many wonderful scenes this year with Susan Flannery (Stephanie) and Winsor Harmon (Thorne) that I will be shocked if they don't get nominated for a daytime Emmy next year. The other story this week involved Massimo finding out about Jackie and Deacon after offering Jackie (well... hmm... Jacqueline) her own chain of boutique stores. Knowing that the writers have made Massimo a very strong character (if we remember the gun scene with Deacon a few weeks ago) we know this affair will not sit well with him at all, regardless of the fact that it only happened AFTER Massimo served Jackie with divorce papers. Did Deacon take advantage of a distraught Jackie? Well, of course he did, but that does not mean she did not enjoy it or had fun with it. They are both to blame. Finally thought we got to see Nick this week. Ever since the actress that plays the character of Felicia has gone on recurring, there seems to be a lack of storyline for this very likable character. I was thinking that this new venture with his mother's boutiques would be a great reason to see him again on a constant basis but now that Massimo knows about the affair I wonder if this will happen after all... too bad, really, would have loved to see rugged captain Nick involved in the 'fashion' industry...!!
sly @ 3:18 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, september 18 Earlier in the week, in the middle of some hanky panky between Thomas and Amber, Lt. Baker arrives to serve Amber with a restraining order. Thomas hides in the bathroom while she's out there, but this new revelation does not stop the couple from continuing on. What I wondered was... why didn't Amber questioned Lt. Baker about it? What on earth is this restraining order for? I think Lt. Baker should have better things to do than try to keep a teenager from hitting the sack, right? Besides, if Thomas is 18 and Amber is his first, I think he's been quite the good boy. Speaking of Thomas... what is he thinking? Why is he taking Caitlin to Homecoming? He should let her brew in the stew that Rick put her in when he told her no way no how he was going to take her to the dance. It would only serve her right. This way not only she has her cake, but she's going to eat it too... unless... Thomas plans to do a no show on the evening of the dance to teach her a lesson? Hmm... that would be funny! While we're on the subject of Caitlin, as usual, I felt she had no place to speak with such authority about Amber to Thomas; she does not know her at all, and I LOVED that Amber confronted her on that fact and told her that nobody forced Rick to marry her... twice! Caitlin should learn to keep her trap shut on things that are none of her business. The relationship between Amber and Thomas should be of no concern to her whatsoever. It seems as if Jackie was a bit redeemed this week when she called Eric in regards to the stolen designs. Will Ridge treat her a little better now? Will that lead him to talk to Massimo again? It also seems as if the fling she had with Deacon was put aside, but I know from the spoilers that things aren't really over yet. My question is... where is Nick? He seems to be missing in action, much like Felicia. Thorne's fashion show went on with the 'stolen' designs. As much as I didn't really like the idea of Thorne coming into his own with 'stolen' goods, I thought the whole thing was pretty funny to say the least. His position was 'stolen' from him, so why not 'steal' something back? It was worthed to see Ridge all upset about it. Oh, sure, he told Thorne he was not going to 'get away' with it... but, what the heck is he going to do? Sure.. Ridge had every reason to be upset, but since they have been writing his character as more and more obnoxious, arrogant, volatile, violent, unsympathetic to anyone whose opinion doesn't coincide with his own... how can anyone feel sorry for him? Seems like Thorne had pretty much everything under control. Who I felt really bad for were Eric and Stephanie. To see your children feud like this can't be easy. So... what's next for Thorne? He can't just go on with his 'Couture' line and continue to steal from his brother/father. He truly needs to get a designer involved. Felicia maybe? Amber? A new character? Wasn't Tony a designer? I really want Thorne to establish himself in his own right and that would be the way to do it. It was nice however, to see the whole family together by the pool. I did not miss the funny look Stephanie gave Brooke when Brooke came up behind her and hugged her and told her how nice it was that she 'made it'. LOL. Yeah, right Brooke! One moment you tell her that she can never see the grandchildren ever again, the next you hug her? Whatever. Putting up a show is what she's always been good for. Brooke never talks badly to Stephanie in front of Ridge or Eric, that is why if it would have been just Stephanie there, I am certain she would have told her to take a hike. One other thing I noticed this week is that, as much as I detest Ridge nowadays, at least he's consistent. He does not like neither Thomas/Amber nor Rick/Caitlin. Of course, this is more than we can say for Brooke, who thinks Rick being with Caitlin is just fine, while Thomas being with Amber is disgusting. Please, if one is disgusting, then both of them are. The age difference is really the same now that Thomas has been conveniently aged to 18. How hypocritical of Brooke to say that Amber will do anything to get back into the 'family'... hmmm... it seems to me like Brooke herself has bedded just about every male Forrester character there is, so how on earth can she open her trap to say anything? She has no place to speak nor judge. I would normally protest Amber's behavior, but let's admit it, Brooke and Ridge should experience the same hell they put Stephanie through in the name of love... so... I love Amber and Thomas together. I might give Ridge a taste of what Stephanie had to go through all these years trying to keep Brooke away from her sons!! Go Amber! And if the writers can overlook scum like Brooke and give her happiness, then they should cut Amber some slack too. Especially since she's not half as bad as Brooke is. Also.. how anyone call her a gold digger I wonder? If she's such a gold-digger... where is all this money? She got nothing after the divorce and she's now going to be a waitress for crying out loud. You would think she would have SOME money from her very successful Ambrosia line, but obviously she got nothing from that either, and she WORKED for that! I don't get it. We also got a glimpse of CJ this week! Wow! Another character... like Dr. Mark, who makes appearances here and there, who should really get more airtime.
sly @ 10:05 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, september 11 I remember the WTC, Pentagon & PA tragedies on this sad day... It was only 3 days worth of shows... at 20 minutes each, barely an hour, yet there is so much to say... The first thing that comes to mind is the Rick/Caitlin relationship. I myself do not like it, the way Caitlin and Rick carry on like they own the universe is just.. well, blah. I say, let them do whatever they want. Let them have sex, have Caitlin get pregnant and marry Rick. I would love for her to have a rough pregnancy, maybe even have a child with disabilities or sick and the opportunity for Hector to tell her 'I told you so'! If only to wipe that smart-aleck look from her face and show her what reality really is like. Right now she's just living in a fantasy of her own creation, a fairytale; her prince charming has ridden into her life and whisked her off her feet. She has no idea of what she's doing. The way she is reacting, with her tamper tantrums, shows that she is what she is, a little girl. Sure, so now they have decided to wait to have sex... but, for how long? A week? A month? My bet is, it will happen, and sooner than we realize. This week Ridge and Brooke decided to have Stephanie intervene in an effort to keep Amber away from Thomas. Right. When I saw that, I thought to myself... what a bunch of hypocrites! For one, they need to keep Thomas away from Amber, not the other way around. It's Thomas that keeps chasing after her, and they know it. But why go after Thomas when they can ambush Amber and have another opportunity to treat her like trash? How convenient. Second, how dare they? First they tell Stephanie that she cannot see her grandchildren unless she supports their "marriage", yet, they want her to handle 'her' responsibility and tell Amber to leave Thomas alone??! That is just wrong, wrong, wrong. They either want her in the children's lives or they don't. To use her like that is total BS. I guess they want to keep their hands clean while someone else does the dirty work, and why not use Stephanie when things get tough? Then it's okay for her to see her grandkids! Give me a break. If I were Stephanie I would tell them to solve their own problems. After that 'Amber bashing' event, I did not have a problem for Amber to start things with Thomas. After all, she's already being vilified for it, Why not? It's like that movie, Double Jeopardy, where Ashley Judd does time for murdering her husband when she really did not... when she gets out of prison and actually does kill her husband, she can't be convicted for it! Amber is already being bashed for doing things with Thomas, why not do them in the end since she's already being accused of them? Why not? Thomas is so cute... and he's acting like he really cares for Amber. Right now Amber really NEEDS someone that treats her with some respect and gives her some attention. I love to watch Thomas stand up to his family over Amber too! Way to go! I loved it when he compared Brooke to Amber. Brooke may not have liked it, but it was the truth. Brooke coming down on Amber is really unreal, I've never seen her as a good example for anyone, and considering she is the biggest gold digger in the world and has been with all the men in the family and had a child by her daughter's husband, she doesn't have a right to open her mouth to say anything. What is just unbelievable is that Ridge now is acting like his almighty self and gets a restraining order for Amber to stay away from Thomas. On what basis? Thomas is supposedly now 18, and Amber is neither dangerous nor a minor herself, so there is no real reason for it. I hope they explain it soon... The way I see it, if they really wanted to make a go of their relationship, they truly could. Thomas could move out at anytime, and he's old enough to truly do whatever he wants. Then we have Deacon telling Nick that his mother had an affair with a man... a man that made her happier than she's ever been with Massimo, and tells Nick that the only reason Jackie is back with Massimo is for his (Nick's) sake. While Deacon has Jackie's best interest at heart... what the heck is he thinking? If he knew Jackie as well as he thinks he does, he would know that being with Massimo is of outmost importance to her, whether she is happier with him or not. I did do a double take when I saw the expression on her face when Massimo told her that he was going to 'coach her' though... hmmm... very interesting!!! Can't wait to see more!!
sly @ 10:33 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, september 4 I've honestly felt bad for Stephanie this week. She had such a good relationship with Thorne recently but he decided to throw that into the garbage and lash out at his mother for the decision to chose Ridge over him that was a decision that was obviously made by Eric. It was Eric that felt he needed Ridge's designs more than Thorne's expertise in the business. We did not see how the decision was made per se, but it was clear that Stephanie was on Thorne's corner when they talked about it. Surely his feelings of being 'second best' have reached an all time low and he just has to blame somebody, why not his mother? To him, going to therapy is unthinkable and he just feels revenge is the best course at this point. I listen to Dr. Laura often and there are always siblings complaining how the 'troublemaker' of the family gets all the attention. It is only natural for a parent to worry and devote more attention to the child that is in trouble all the time. Real life is like this, and siblings always resent it. It has nothing to do with favoritism, but everything to do with the fact that, as a parent, you want to protect this wild child. Thorne is now an adult, Stephanie explained to him why Ridge got more attention when he was growing up, and he should get over it. I do feel that he NEEDS to come into his own, if only to humiliate Ridge, but he can't be doing this by stealing designs from FC, he needs to hire a designer like Amber to compete instead of copying! That would be a TRUE revenge! As is he's just playing dirty... hmmmm Thorne was not the only one that lashed out at his mother this week... Felicia did a pretty good job at it too. I find this pretty bizarre since the last time Felicia was on the show, she and Stephanie were very close. What happened? Whatever it was, it certainly wasn't on screen. Demonstrating a behavior that is so typically female, Felicia explained to her mother that even though she wanted her mom to call or come visit, she 'pretended' to not want to hear from her or see her. So... for all intense and purposes, Felicia is mad at her mother because she was not reading her mind!! Give me a break. Felicia, as much as I like her, has some major issues. Perhaps Captain Payne (or is it Captain Marone nowadays?) has enough issues of his own to help her out of her shell and help her grow up and learn to trust people. It seems as if she's been keeping her distance from everyone emotionally and physically for way too long. I am looking forward to see the love between Felicia and Nick grow... The scenes of Felicia sharing the news of her cancer being in remission to her mother were really moving in some spots, and in the end I thought it was particularly cute how she put her arms around Stephanie's shoulder stating that it was good to have her in her 'corner'. Also moving were the scenes of Felicia with Nick where they state to each other how they brought one another back to 'life'. Awww.... Deacon got the short end of the stick once again this week when Jackie told him that Massimo and Nicky have forgiven her and that she was going back to the house. I honestly think that if it was just for Massimo, she would have thought about it a heck of a lot longer, but seeing Nicky there, forgiving her, telling her he missed her, truly cemented her decision immediately. Deacon had no chance. Things should be peachy for Jackie now, but wait until Massimo finds out about the affair! Jackie's life will be in turmoil again. As per Caitlin... she is the typical teenager that wants what she wants without thinking of the consequences. The way she talks to her father (and mother) is absolutely obnoxious and selfish! It just revolts me. Anytime I see her I just want to smack her. Now she threatens to move out? Hector is being way too nice to her. If she was my daughter she would be chained to her bedroom! And what does Caitlin do the moment Hector tells her it's okay to see Rick? She's right back into Rick's bed!! While I don't really think the age difference it's a big deal (we've seen much worse on this show), it's everything that surrounds it that makes it bad. The lies, the threats, the fact that both Rick and Caitlin think their relationship is okay (because they are 'in love'!!?? Like that makes a difference) but the Thomas/Amber relationship is disgusting, their air of superiority, it's all just too too much. I think they are headed for a BIG fall. And if not... they should!
sly @ 12:13 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, august 28 This week revolved much around the Jackie/Deacon relationship & the Caitlin/Rick aftermath from Hector hitting Rick with his truck. Very little time was devoted to other storylines, such as the miraculous remission of Felicia's cancer and the visit from sarcastic Ridge to Spectra to see his brother after it was announced and it was all over the papers that Thorne was the new president of Spectra. As usual Ridge acted like a complete know-it-all, and I found it hypocritical how he stated to Thorne that his stint at Spectra a couple of years ago was nothing like Thorne's... what? If memory serves, Ridge went to great lengths to try to ruin Forrester Creations when he went to Spectra, so much so that the Ambrosia line (which is far better than this Ingénue line in my book) had to be sold on the Shopping Channel. There is no difference, period. What I found hard to digest is how Ridge managed to insult everyone at Spectra in one fell swoop when he stated to Thorne that that his 'Cracker Jack team' consisted in a washed up designer, a dimwitted ex-secretary and a bitter Irish woman. Well, this 'Cracker Jack' team is the same team that was there for him when he needed them, was there? This is the kind of respect Ridge gives to people in general, so why be surprised? As per Felicia's cancer miraculously disappearing... hmmm... well, that caught me by surprise. I thought the whole storyline with Felicia reconciling with her parents and having a relationship with Nick was because of this cancer and now it's gone? Very bizarre. Or maybe the cancer being gone will be the catalyst of Felicia reconciling with her parents and starting a relationship with Nick? Very confusing. I must admit, however bizarre the relationship between Jackie and Deacon was in the beginning, this week I really warmed up to it. It seems as if Deacon really cares for Jackie and wanted her to see that the end of her marriage with Massimo was not really an ending, but a beginning of a new chapter in her life. Was Jackie really that miserable with Massimo though? It didn't seem so to me, so that is why I am at a loss at what's going to happen next between them. One thing I am asking though is... where is "Little D/Eric"? Okay... so Deacon had explained a while ago that Little D/Eric's grandparents (Becky's parents) had moved nearby so they could spend more time with Little D/Eric. However, we NEVER see this child anymore! Did the boy actually 'move in' with his grandparents? Deacon didn't even mention him to Jackie, and considering he was asking her to move in, you would think they would discuss the child! I find this a little bizarre, considering how much he fought to get custody... I find it bizarre that the Caitlin we see today is nothing like the character that was introduced a year ago. She is now prepared to choose Rick over her father and newfound mother? On what planet? Perhaps she is just acting like a typical teenager, who wants what she wants and cares nothing about the consequences. I found it very disrespectful how after Hector explained to her why dating Rick is a bad idea and that they should wait (and Brooke even agreed to that), that she got by Rick's side and start making out with him IN FRONT of them! I couldn't believe it. How selfish can she be? I was impressed at the way Hector handled Brooke as well, his arguments were completely on mark and could not be faltered. He is, of course, far from an hypocrite. He is regretting what happened between him and Sam and does not want a repeat of history. What father would want what happened to Sam for his daughter? Will this storyline help Sam with her relationship with her own mother I wonder? It would be interesting because I just loved the character of Priscilla and would like nothing better for her character to come back... for the wedding maybe? Who knows... We saw poor Dr. Mark this week as well. I really feel bad for this character! He seem to only appear on screen when someone is injured, sick, or having a baby in their bedroom! He should hook up with Amber or something... that would be interesting, won't you say? Lastly my rant is toward Eric this week. I just don't agree with some of the things he did and said. For one, offering to take Caitlin home with him instead of Caitlin going home with her parents was not a good idea. He should have encouraged Caitlin to go home instead. To offer her asylum elsewhere it means giving her tantrum credibility. Interestingly enough, she didn't spend the night at Eric's house anyway, but by Rick's side at the hospital, and Eric should have told Hector where her underage daughter was! However, he didn't. Eric also didn't seem too concerned that Caitlin came *this close* to lose her virginity that night to Rick. Hmmm... he seemed to be pretty darn upset when Bridget did, so much so that he purposely ran over Deacon with his car and even shot him... well, that was an accident, but, still, he was threatening Deacon with a gun. Where the heck is Bridget nowadays anyway? Nobody ever explained her absence on the show. Also, why didn't Eric go in to see his son right away at the hospital? Why did he let Caitlin go in first? As a parent, you could not keep me out of that room, yet we did not even see him go in at all. Eric, please wake up and smell the coffee!!!
sly @ 12:30 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, august 21 How can anyone not feel sorry for Amber this week? Here she is, trying to avoid Thomas at every turn, not answering his calls, telling him to leave her alone, yet both Caitlin and Rick couldn't help themselves, they just had to treat her with absolute trash and complete disrespect. Caitlin and Rick were truly hypocritical for judging the few kisses that Amber and Thomas shared. For one, the age difference between them is not that different and they were going to go 'all the way' the same night themselves? Their behavior and 'holier than thou' attitude was just too much. Amber is no saint, but she was never a slut like Brooke, and the comments that Brooke made to Rick that Amber had 'convinced' Thomas that she had feelings for him came from absolute nowhere. Where did she get that from? Brooke is the one to talk anyway, how can she expect Stephanie to treat her well after she slept around with her entire family, when she can't accept Amber? Why is it okay for Brooke to try to control her son's life when Stephanie gets crucified for doing the same thing??? Who is Brooke to give advice to Ridge on how to get rid of Amber anyway? She never succeeded! She was the stupid one to hire an 18-year-old babysitter for her teenage son! Duh! Kudos to Thomas for coming to her rescue and for defending her during Rick's confrontation. I loved the Knight in Shining Armor persona that he demonstrated. He may be just 16 years old, but you have to give the guy some credit. He showed strength of character, self confidence, understanding and compassion toward Amber, against Rick’s cold, heartless, and demeaning tirades. The way Rick talked to Amber was completely uncalled for. He treated her like he never loved her and conveniently forgot all the pain she went through in their relationship with losing their babies... I would also freak-out if someone tried to take away my 3rd child! What about the fact that the reason why he's alive today is because Amber gave him one of her kidneys? If he hated her so much, why did he marry her... twice? How cruel can he be? He did love Amber, no matter how much he tries to deny it. How can Rick say that he will not let Amber do to Thomas what she did to him? If memory serves correctly, he was a more than willing participant. And Amber was also the victim of Sheila on many occasions and many of her "mistakes" were never as grandiose as any of Brooke's and that might be why Stephanie was always the only one who has ever given Amber a chance! I was actually surprised that Stephanie was missing this week, I thought for sure Amber would go to her. Or is she too embarrassed? I hope the writers won't make Amber the next Brooke, sleeping with every guy who walks in front of her! Thomas should remain a good, close friend, someone to flirt with etcetera. All in all though, I really love this story with Thomas and Amber. Ridge can now get a taste of his own medicine. See how it feels to be a parent and want something for your child and your child does not listen. This is sweet payback for Ridge's defiance of his mother with her feeling of him being with Brooke over the years. I love it. Will Stephanie see all of this and bring it to light? It would make for a great storyline. What I find pathetic is how Ridge calls Amber a gold-digger... really Ridge? You are married to Brooke, the Queen Gold digger of them all!! Give me a break. What needs to happen is that Thorne and Sally need to hire Amber to counteract the Ingénue line. She is unemployed and living in a dump. She can create edgy teenage fashions much better than Caitlin & Ridge can, and the new job would allow her to get back at Ridge, Brooke, Rick, and Caitlin, while earning enough money to live much better that she is now. So... Thomas decides to take matters into his own hands and went to the Firehouse to tell Hector about Rick. While that was vindictive in a way, I don't blame him one bit for it. Rick & Caitlin had this big secret, and the way they are treating him and especially Amber, why not expose it? Caitlin of course claims she was going to tell her dad that same evening, however, her mouthing off to her dad that they were going to make love with that smirk and nahnah-nahnahnah attitude totally sealed her fate. She could have handled it a little bit better, won't you say? The hurt that Hector had in his face, stating how the people that loved him had lied to him all these weeks was palpable. No wonder he stormed out of there to go see Rick. And what was Rick doing in the middle of the driveway? Doesn't he know cars drive in the driveway, that it was dark and it was raining? If he got hit, that is completely his fault. Hector tried to stop. For this reason I better hope he does not suffer any consequences at all. Speaking of consequences... will Hector forgive Samantha for not telling him about Rick? I hope so... she is new at being a mom and she was entrusting a confidence. I am certain it will never happen again. Also, Hector should put a restraining order on Rick for seducing a minor and have him arrested. That would be a wonderful way to make his point to Caitlin. After all, Ridge threaten to call the cops on Amber, yet sweet golden boy Rick is allowed to paw a teenager as long as he's discreet about it. Hector should not let him get away with it. I must admit, while I would like to love Felicia and Nick together, it just doesn't click for me. Maybe in time it will? It just seems forced somehow, I can't really put my finger on it. She has cancer, they are going to get through it together, and I better hope that either Nick starts serenading her, or that Stephanie and Jackie get involved, and soon, or I might lose interest completely. However, it is good to see him not drooling over Brooke!!
sly @ 12:49 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, august 14 One couldn't help but feel sorry for Eric & Stephanie in the early part of the week. They had the grim job of having to announce their choice between Ridge & Thorne. At first Eric decided he was going to retire and let his fighting sons decide on their own what to do, but they would not have it. The way Ridge has been insulting his role as president and his wife at every turn, I can see why Thorne just had to know what his father's decision was. I do believe that the decision was made more by Eric than Stephanie however. He felt he needed Ridge's designs for the company to go forward. Really Eric? Where was Ridge for the past 3.5 years? He left to go to bio-daddy Massimo and worked for Spectra, which he later renamed it Logan Designs as a 'gift' for Brooke. Ridge was too busy with his personal life to care about FC. In the meantime, Thorne was there slaving day in and day out, working hard. I honestly do not think Eric thought this through. For one, you can have the most talented designer in the world, but without the backing end expertise and the alliances to move the product that Thorne has, all these wonderful (well, I would not call Ridge's latest designs wonderful but, for sake of argument) clothes can very well be sitting in boxes in the warehouse. Thorne's reaction was an Emmy winning performance in my view. It's about time that Thorne gets some screen time! One could not help but feel sorry for Darla as she stood there crying, and kudos to her for shutting up Brooke when she so coldly and inappropriately blurted out, "It's only a job!" Guaranteed it wasn't just a job when Brooke had it! As a matter of fact I remember her being pretty devastated when she lost it!!! But maybe... just maybe this is the right way to go story wise. Thorne will get his revenge working with Sally and his dad may realize what a huge mistake he's made when he can't move the inventory... Hmmm... This week Massimo served Jackie divorce papers. Did this man really think this through? Why is he telling her that Jackie lied 'all these months'? Jackie didn't really lie. He drowned herself in alcohol believing that two paternity tests couldn't be wrong. Once she fond out for sure, she immediately fessed up. Hardly the actions of a manipulative person. I can't help but feeling sorry for Jackie, but having such a possessive husband can't really be a good thing. Maybe, just maybe, she's better off without him. I am not sure if Deacon is the way to go, but hey, kudos to her for snagging a younger man!!! Ridge hit a new low on Friday's show, and I didn't think it was possible. Ridge is treating everyone pretty badly nowadays, both his brothers, his bio dad, his mom, his sister-in-law... typical Ridge I suppose, hence it was only expected for him to act like his arrogant self with Amber. WHAT A MAN... dragging a woman half his size around and threatening to kill her. Sure, Amber is no saint, but she's no Brooke and the guy is married to the town's tramp, how dare him come down on Amber like this? Has he forgotten she buried 2 babies? Has he forgotten that she donated an organ to Rick? I had to laugh when he called her a 'gold digger' because that's exactly how Stephanie has always said about Brooke. What an hypocrite! All he managed to do with his fit is make Thomas feel sorry for Amber. Way to go daddy! Ridge is the one who really deserves to be knocked down from his throne. He's been getting off too easily all his life. I hope Thomas can give him his own medicine! Thomas and Amber together is a great start! I really felt sorry for Amber in the earlier part of the week too. Rick is treating her like he never loved her. Yes Amber made some bad choices but so did his Mother and he loves her still. He didn't even flinch when he found out that his mother had an affair with his sister's husband and that Hope was actually Deacon's. Give me a break! I am liking this pair of Nick with Felicia more and more as I see them together. He is intrigued by her and it's a good start. He also found out this week (supposedly, we did not really hear his conversation with the doc) that Felicia has cancer. I will be eager to find out what he's going to do with this information. Will he go to Steph again? Eric maybe? Felicia seems a bit volatile at the moment, so I am not sure how she will react once she realizes that Nick knows about her illness. Finally... how cute was that proposal from Hector to Samantha? I loved it!!! Adorable does not even describe it. I can't wait for the wedding already!!
sly @ 12:38 PM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, august 7 These past two weeks have been eventful. I was out of town for a few days for my 20th Class Reunion so I left the job of taping a few B&B episodes to TiVo. We start these two weeks with the Forrester's getting ready for their fashion show. I still can't believe these 'rags' are supposed to be 'fashion'? I don't get it. Where would a teenager wear these? Teenagers can't even drink, so they can't wear these at bars or anywhere alcohol is served! It just does not make any sense. At any rate, the show does go on without Ridge's consent and is supposedly a big success. I find that hard to believe but... okay. In the meantime the whole family is up in arms about Darla giving Sally the Ingénue designs. Thankfully everyone understands the fact that this was a mistake except for Ridge, of course, who uses this golden opportunity to treat Darla with further disrespect and more name calling. Funny how Ridge is all upset when anyone treats Brooke with disrespect (the disrespect she so RICHLY deserves!!) yet makes no qualms at treating everyone else (Darla, Stephanie, Massimo etcetera) with so little respect is absolutely disgusting. Of course this whole thing precipitated the fact that Ridge barred Darla from entering the Forrester's building which made Thorne livid and that's where the brothers got into a heated argument that made Thorne tell his parents that they had to choose which son was going to stay at Forrester and which one was going to leave. This put Eric and Stephanie in an impossible situation. Of course if it was me, I would choose Thorne hands down. He's been nothing but loyal to his family and he's the only REAL Forrester heir anyway. Ridge's loyalties instead run hot and cold depending on what day of the week it is. One moment he wants to dethrone Brooke from being CEO, the next he marries her. One moment he runs to Massimo when he did not get his way at Forrester's Creations, the next he puts Massimo in jail and runs back to Eric. Who is this man? Why is anyone bending over backwards to please him? Eric should remember that Ridge is not loyal and not even his biological son to boot and take that into consideration when he makes his decision. I actually felt sorry for Amber. I really and honestly did. There she is, pouring her heart out to Rick but it does not matter. Rick is smitten with Caitlin and that's that. I found it funny that Thomas then accidentally found himself at her doorstep with her wearing next-to-nothing. Let's face it, Amber is one hot chick and Thomas would be a fool not to take advantage of the situation! I find this whole thing very amusing. Why? Because of Brooke. What goes around comes around and all her misdeeds are coming back to bite her in her butt. There she is, mad at Stephanie for treating her the SAME way she has treated and WILL treat Amber! Can we say... hypocritical? I love it. Brooke will get a taste of her own medicine very soon. Speaking of Brooke... it seems as if since her wedding to Ridge, her role on the show has taken a back seat. All I can to that is HURRAY! For too long now this has been the 'Logan' show and there was no balance. Her storylines always took precedence over any other. It seems as if the importance of certain relationships and other storylines now are taking more of a center stage while Brooke seems to be happy at home, even missing the fashion show. If this is just how important her role is going to be for the months/years to come, I say, COOL. Enough is enough. The Caitlin/Rick relationship is... hmmm... boring. I don't see anything exciting about it, just a little girl with a huge infatuation and things going her way. I see disaster coming a mile away. How do I feel about the age difference between Amber/Thomas and Caitlin/Rick? Well, one has to either support both or neither. It can't be okay for Rick to be with Caitlin but not okay for Amber to be with Thomas. From my calculations Amber should be about 26 since she was 18 when first introduced in 1997. Rick should be about 24 from those calculations since when Amber was 18 he was 16. Rick can't really be much older than that since Brooke (his mother) just had another baby, and I doubt the writers want Brooke to be older than her mid-forties, if that. As per Thomas/Caitlin, I think they are 17? Yes, there is an age difference, but it's not HUGE or anything. It was far worse when it was Brooke/Eric. Sooo... Brooke can't really comment on age differences, right? Looks like she is already supporting Rick being with Caitlin only because she keeps him away from Amber. Just like Stephanie supported Taylor because she kept Ridge away from Brooke! Do we see a repeat of storylines?? Hmmm... As per Felicia/Nick... not sure how I feel yet. I love Nick and he needs to get over Brooke... fast. Felicia however, seems to be a loose cannon at this point. Nick seems to pick up on that too, and it shows that he does not like the fact that she's a Forrester. But being the nice guy that he is he runs to Stephanie when he finds out that Felicia is taking some pills. I thought that was very thoughtful of him and a sweet thing to do. Maybe he's coming around to the fact that Stephanie is really not the witch Brooke thinks she is and that she is a good person at heart. I'm glad that Nick and Steph seem to have formed some kind of bond of friendship. God knows Nick needs some friends. Right now he has no one he can talk to except for Massimo and we haven't seen him for weeks. Out of concern Stephanie calls Felicia and asks her to come over but Felicia seems very icy and confrontational right off the bat and seemingly without a reason. Stephanie tries to hug her and she is standing there like a log. Let bygones be bygones I say, but she decides to be mad at her mother for everything under the sun. She refuses to even make small talk, blabs about Ridge being the favorite (good grief! These people are adults! Get over it!) and then gets upset when Stephanie asks her about the drugs and storms out. Give me a break. Stephanie is there, trying to reach out and Felicia refuses, only to later tell Thomas to be nice to his dad!!?? How about you being nice to your mother Felicia??
sly @ 8:25 AM ------------------------------------------------------------------- saturday, july 24 We finally got to see the new Ingénue line by Forrester this week, or, at least, the preview of three designs. Can we say... YUK? These designs are supposed to be for who exactly? Teenagers? Paris Hilton? Hookers? I have no idea what Ridge or Eric are thinking, and I am with Thorne and Stephanie on this one. These designs may fly with another fashion house, but Thorne and Eric were supposed to bring back that classic look Forrester was famous for before Brooke poisoned it with her trashy lingerie line, and this is not the way to go. I find it bizarre that nobody liked the Ambrosia line and fought against it, and Ambrosia was way, way better than these rags!! Stephanie of course is right... the only reason Eric is backing Ridge is because he's so happy to have him back he will bow to any of his wishes. After a well deserved punch courtesy of Thorne (go Thorne!) by the end of the week Ridge supposedly listened and toned down the designs... that is, after a romp on the desk with Brooke... major yuk... again, it hasn't yet supposedly been six weeks since RJ's birth, can these two cool it down for a little while or is their relationship just about sex? It would seem so... Hmmm... What's upsetting is that Ridge is now stating that he can take down Thorne at any time by using his and Brooke's shares... wait a minute. This implies that both Rick and Bridget would have to AGREE to fire Thorne as president... and how much stock does Ridge has in the company anyway? Excluding little D's 2%, we've got 49% of the stock divided into... what, 6? Ridge, Thorne, Kristen, Felicia, Stephanie & Eric. That's a little over 8% ownership. Ugh... this is just too complicated! Kudos to the writers for finally bringing Darla front and center. This likable character has been on the background for years and years and I am happy that she's finally getting a meaty storyline. I know many fans can't see how she went from 'ditzy' to 'smart' all of a sudden, but in my view I never saw Darla as 'ditzy' at all. Being a wife and mother has changed her for the better, but she was never really bad before... if she was that ditzy she never would have offered her baby to Macy & Thorne to raise together. She was never ditzy, she just had spunk. I am worried that this recent mix-up might mean trouble in paradise, but I have to remind myself that Thorne is not Ridge... he actually listens to people when they talk! It was an honest mistake and he will see it as that. I found it rather worrisome though that Clarke would bug her so much about 'stealing' the designs for Sally, Clarke has never been loyal to no-one so that was not really surprising I suppose. What instead is not a mistake is the way Rick is acting toward Caitlin. He was all against seeing her and then a few words from Caitlin and they are up at Big Bear? What? Why can
