In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye...we shall be changed.
I. Corinthians 15:52

I truly believe that if my "textbook" pregnancies would have ended up in "textbook" babies,  I would not be the person I am today. Whether I would be a 'happier' person is impossible to say.  I have always been one of those people that is capable of finding the positive aspect of every situation, but, for the life of me, I have never been able to find one single solitary real positive thing out of Alex's death, or Nicky's disorder. Survival enhances strength, and I do believe I am a much stronger person that I would have been otherwise.

The birth of my healthy son in September 2003 has helped me putting things into perspective as well...

Here's a poem I have in the kitchen of my house...

Don't Quit

When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill,
When the funds are low, and the debts are high,
And you want to smile but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out;
Don't give up though the pace seems slow,
You might succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out,
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt,
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit,
It's when things seem worse,
that you must not quit.

When times are good you should be cheerful--When times are bad, think what it means.
Ecclesiastes 7:14

Here's my thoughts on the following subjects plus some articles I wrote:

Being a Bereaved Parent Nothing can prepare you for it... NOTHING.
Having a Special Needs Child It's a different world the one I was thrown into when my son was born. A harsher world in many ways, a more painful one. But also a more loving world.
Health and Fitness Find out why my ex-husband thought I would survive my grandchildren!
Friendships Good friends and Bad friends-how my children helped me weed them out.
Pregnancy/Childbirth When things go wrong the innocence is gone...
Coping/Compassion Learning the hard way...
And they lived happily ever after This is an article I wrote for the now gone (sniff!) Leftgrlls website.

Good sense

Who has it is lucky.
Who uses it is intelligent.
Who does not know it is unfortunate.
Who snobs it is an idiot.
Who overtakes it is a speculator.
